Wildlife Habitat Assessment Studies
For over 30 years, Skelly and Loy has conducted wildlife studies related to a variety of land development and management projects. These studies have included simple species-specific surveys and complex community-based habitat suitability modeling. Skelly and Loy has five biologists who are certified by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as Habitat Evaluation Procedure (HEP) Biologists. We have pioneered the application of landscape ecology to environmental impacts analysis to assess impacts to Forest Interior Species, major Forest Patch Networks, and travel corridors. Skelly and Loy also has specialized wildlife landscape designers who have designed more than 50 wildlife management plans as terrestrial mitigation for development projects with large-scale impacts, such as highways, railroads, mines, hydroelectric dams, and power plants. We have developed many design techniques to minimize wildlife conflicts, such as directional fencing, enticement landscaping, and in limited cases wildlife bridges and culverts.
